I'm a positive person, my glass is always half-full, even in a negative I look for some positivity. It can be easy to become trapped in negative thinking which serves no true purpose.
Having a positive outlook helps me through my day especially with my work with SEN/D high school pupils. For me it helps keep the thought processes open. I enjoy my work, knowing that I can make a difference to someone's life can be a good feeling.
I have been told that I am a thoughtful, good, caring and kind man who accepts people as they are. I value opinions of others and always show and give respect. If we treated people how we wished to be treated the world would be a much better place. I value my integrity, as do others.
In the life-long relationship that I seek I will not bring to it any lies, deception, dishonesty, or unhappiness due to my behaviour. For I truly believe that a husband and wife can become one, thus what we do to our partner we also do to ourselves. I will lighten the yolk of my future partner by doing my share of work that will be required for a happy and successful relationship. I regard time as my most precious commodity we all have an unknown finite amount. So I want to spend mine wisely and hope not to waste anymore of it. As unfortunately I have encountered insincere people who have not been genuine or truthful. So if you are not "The Real Deal" that is, seeking a genuine romance leading to love, friendship and marriage to give happiness to the final setting of my sun. Then please don't waste your time and especially waste any of mine for I reserve it for those I love.
Having a high emotional intelligence I am unafraid to express my emotions and often do with my poetry and romantic gestures. I am a man who enjoys romance and values the effort applied by the special woman in my life. I don't regard myself as a closed book, as I believe in sharing thoughts, concerns or worries along with love in a relationship. I do have a good sense of humour and fun and I can laugh at myself if the occasion calls for it.
I am a free thinker with a desire to do what is right even if it means to go against the grain. Not being the norm for the men found on dating sites; I’m an individual and I stand or fall on my own merit or actions and not that of others. I deliberately spent time on my own and not seeking a new partner as I felt that it is necessary to rid all the negativity that comes from a relationship break-up. I ended a thirty-year relationship.
I am now able and willing to commit to, with the right woman, another serious relationship; hopefully for the rest of my living years.
I enjoy: photography, cinema, theatre, discovering historic places, walking hand-in-hand, warm summer rain, cooking a special meal for my woman, planning and giving surprises, reading and writing poetry , travel to experience different cultures and meet the people of that culture. I try to live a healthy life and train at Karate twice a week. I enjoy nature and all of its splendour. I love to hear laughter of children and laughter of the special woman in my life. I adore children and love to watch them in their play. That being children in my life, and not of strangers children. I remember writing a poem after spending time with my son and playing, as I realised how blessed I was but days like these will end as my son gets older, I called the poem “Days Like These.”

Long leisurely walks in the Lakes
Taking, jet-powered, sultry, summer breaks
Walking in woodland, in the soothing, summer rain
Cozy, pub fire-side chats, that stimulates the brain

Knowing that the glass is always half-full
Effort is needed to ensure life isn’t dull
Sometimes it’s necessary to go against the grain
Dare to be different, so existence, hasn’t all been in vain

Ride a bike through the mud and over the hill
Down the towpath, turn of speed for the thrill
Making silly phrases from vehicle registrations
Be in awe of the of the night-sky constellations

On a beach to see and hear the crashing of the waves
Watch the sun set, and the disappearance of its rays
Listening to genres of music, I’ll try to dance
Sometimes, friendship blossoms, and blooms into romance

Realisation that time is precious, but isn’t always a friend
Without warning, it can rip-up our contract and bring it to an end
To grasp the nettle, and give what’s left of life a thrill
Create in the heart and mind, fond new memories, while we can still

Shelter of friendship, you supply the walls of truth
I’ll patiently, provide the honesty for the roof
Digitally record many a breathtaking view
